Acts 5:34-42

34* Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space;

35* And said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men.

36* For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nought.

37* After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, even as many as obeyed him, were dispersed.

38* And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:

39* But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

40* And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

41* And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

42* And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

A Good Recipe

This morning Mama had me make a rub for the crock pot ribs for supper tonight. I thought they were really good. And it was really easy too.

It consisted of:
2 TBS of Pepper
2 TBS of Salt
2 TBS of Garlic Powder
and
The juice of 3 Lemons
(I used about 3 TBS of the bottled juice [not sure if that's right:-] )

Mama got the ribs ready to cook then I took them and rubbed the dry mix all over them. I wasn't to sure about handling all the raw meat cause I'm usually not to keen on raw meat but it weren't as bad as I thought it would be :-) Actually it was kind of fun!
Then I sprinkled the leftover rub over the top and poured the lemon juice over it all.
We cooked it on high for and hour and then low for the rest of the time while we...

Went to WAL-MART and looked at fabric,

ate lunch in the van,

went to some friends house for the boy's Sunday School swimming party,

had ice cream, cookies, and lemonade there,

(I got to hold, feed, and burp a baby there too!=)

went to the Library near there, and got some books,

and listened to Laura read Across Five Aprils on the way Home.

By the time we got home the ribs were ready.
We had them with leftover Tater Salad, Baked Beans, and bread.
Very tasty.
Though pretty spicy from all the pepper
Mama said I may have stumped my toe on that a bit.
So if your house hold does not like a lot of spicy food...
USE LESS!
(and don't walk around while adding it)

;-D

Happy 4th!!!

The Defence of Fort Mc Henry or The star Spangled Banner

Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
